Ñawpa Runa is community association based in Chazuta whose main interest is to promote and contribute to the union and
collaboration aomng the Amazon population , centering its activities in the Huallaga Valley.
Ñawpa Runa is a quechua for ancestor and descendant simultaneously, as ñawpa can be translated as ¨ahead , in
front ¨ and past¨, and runa is a person or a people. This seeming ambiguity fits our philosophy perfectly as we have no doubt that a proper preparation for the future requires a proper knowldege
of the past. The central idea of our ancestral wisdom is not development but rather ayni which in quechua means balance, reciprocity , and harmony. We must look to this ancient
teaching of ayni between people and their enviroment.
